Talk Series between SCRIPTS and the Federal Foreign Office: The Liberal Model of Order – Challenges for German Foreign Policy
SCRIPTS analyzes the contemporary contestations of the liberal international order from a historical, global, and comparative perspective. Its research topics often directly relate to practical aspects of foreign affairs. Yet, research on and the practice of foreign policy often communicate in different ‘languages’. It is therefore crucial to ask how these contestations of the liberal order are shaped from a point of view of practical policymaking. From a research perspective, it is moreover relevant to reflect how to incorporate these practical reflections on foreign policy into a sound analytical framework.
The talk series initiated by the planning staff of the German Federal Foreign Office and SCRIPTS offers a joint knowledge exchange platform between various 'practitioners' of German foreign policy and the SCRIPTS’ researchers. The events of the talk series encompass the following questions:
- What are the central challenges of the liberal order both from a research and practical perspective?
- What is the future of liberal international order?
This is an internal talk series and open only to policymakers from the Federal Foreign Office, SCRIPTS researchers, and invited participants.
The event series was opened in July 2022 with a key note speech by the German Minister of State for Europe and Climate of the Federal Foreign Office, Dr. Anna Lührmann.
