In the third episode of #facesofscripts you will get to know Martyna Linartas. She is a PhD candidate at the Berlin Graduate School for Global and Transregional Studies. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and History of Art from the Christian-Albrechts Universität zu Kiel and her Master’s in Political Science from Freie Universität Berlin, having also spent time at universities in Spain and Latin America. Martyna’s research is centered on equality and inequality in Mexico, and the patterns of resistance the business elites have displayed to equality. Her research asks and answers three questions: firstly, why is it that Latin America suffer from such persistent inequality? Secondly, what role do business interest groups play in tax policy and which is the Government’s way of reducing inequality? Finally, how do business elites perceive inequality and tax equity, and which social norms play a role in this context?
