Nov 12, 2021 - Nov 13, 2021

The Institute for East European Studies at Freie Universität Berlin, led by SCRIPTS Principal Investigator Prof. Katharina Bluhm, is celebrating the seventieth anniversary of its founding in 1951. The international symposium, organized in cooperation with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Osteuropakunde (DGO), is a key event in the celebrations and also serves as a platform for discussing the cultural, political, economic, and social complexities of Eastern Europe over the past thirty years.

Program

Three panels of the symposium deal with the consolidation of authoritarian regimes in Eastern Europe, state capitalism and its role in economic and social development, and civil culture, protests, and dissidence in Eastern European countries.
