The German Association for Political Science (DVPW), together with SCRIPTS and the Otto Suhr Institute (OSI) of Freie Universität, is organising the conference "Politics and Profession" for political scientists and those interested in Berlin. Registration until 05 Feb 2023 here.
About the Event
All DVPW members as well as interested members of the public from politics, science and society are cordially invited to discuss current scientific and professional policy issues in eight discussion rounds.
The conference "Politics and Profession" is a new format of the DVPW that serves to address current and important science policy issues. This includes questions about the social relevance of political science, challenges facing our discipline and opportunities arising from them, as well as framework conditions for conducting and communicating innovative and excellent research and teaching.
The aim of the conference is to create a new space for discussion in which we, as a community of political scientists, can address issues of science policy that affect our discipline and influence our everyday work. The conference format brings together colleagues from all career levels as well as representatives from politics, the media and society to shed light on current dynamics in the science system (including the amendment to the WissZeitVG; funding, digital transformation in research and teaching; changes in publishing and open access) and to agree on common positions and approaches. In addition, the conference offers us the opportunity to examine our self-image as a discipline (including freedom of science; questions of diversity; knowledge transfer, science communication and policy advice).
Language: German (two panels are in Englisch)
