Eric Stollenwerk received his B.A. from the Georg-August-University Göttingen and his M.A. from the Freie Universität Berlin. In 2018 he completed his PhD in Political Science at the Freie Universität Berlin.
From 2014 to 2017 Eric was a Research Associate and the Managing Director of the Collaborative Research Center (SFB) 700: Governance in Areas of Limited Statehood. Since 2018 he is a Senior Research Fellow and the Scientific Coordinator of the EU-LISTCO research project on European foreign and security policy. He has spent extended periods as a guest researcher at Stanford University and at the Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO).
His teaching experience includes lectures and courses at the graduate and undergraduate level in English as well as in German.
Eric’s fields of research include international relations, peace and conflict studies, and quantitative research methods. He has done extensive research on state and non-state legitimacy, state capacity, governance effectiveness, and political violence. His work has been published among others in the Annual Review of Political Science, the Journal of Intervention and Statebuilding, and with Oxford University Press.
