Dr. Susanne Schmeier, LLM, studied international law and international relations (with minors in economics and Chinese) at the University of Leipzig, Sciences Po Paris and the University of London. She holds at PhD from the Berlin Graduate School for Transnational Studies (BTS), in co-supervision with Oregon State University. She currently works at IHE Delft as an associate professor and is a a fellow at the Utrecht Center for Water, Ocean and Sea Law (UCWOSL) in Utrecht, The Netherlands, and an affiliate at the International Water Law Academy at China’s Institute of Boundary and Ocean Studies in Wuhan, China. Prior to this, she has worked with the Gesellschaft für international Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and a number of international organizations – such as the World Bank or the Mekong River Commission. Her work focuses on environmental and water law, water resources management and the link between water and security and the role of negotiations and dispute-resolution in addressing this link.
