Sebastian Knecht holds a BA degree in Political Science from Freie Universität Berlin and an MA degree in Contemporary European Studies from the University of Bath. He has completed his PhD at the Berlin Graduate School for Transnational Studies in March 2019. In his dissertation, he investigates systems of tiered membership in intergovernmental organizations. Sebastian has studied or conducted research in France, the United Kingdom, Norway and Canada. He has taught courses on international organizations, ocean governance and political science methods and regularly teaches on European politics in the postgraduate master of European studies. Since April 2019, Sebastian works as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Bielefeld.
