Sophie Eisentraut completed her PhD at the Berlin Graduate School for Transnational Studies and the WZB in 2016. She was a visiting scholar at Cornell University and has taught at the Free University Berlin, the Humboldt University of Berlin, and the Hertie School of Governance. In October 2016, Sophie began the Transatlantic Post-Doc Fellowship for International Relations and Security (TAPIR), working on the challenges to multilateralism that arise from the (re-)emergence of non-Western powers. As TAPIR fellow, Sophie works at the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP) in Berlin, the German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF) in Washington, D.C., and the Finnish Institute of International Affairs (FIIA) in Helsinki.
