Maria Josepha Debre studied Political Science and International Relations at Passau University, Université Laval, and Potsdam University. She received her Ph.D from the Free University Berlin in 2018 within the Berlin Graduate School of Transnational Science and the Research College (KFG) ‘The Transformative Power of Europe’. During the academic year 2017/18, she was a Fox International Fellow (pre-doc) at the Whitney and Betty MacMillan Center for International and Area Studies at Yale University. Her Ph.D dealt with the impact of regional cooperation between authoritarian regimes for domestic survival politics. She has also taught courses on EU external relations, research design, and gender and politics at FU Berlin and Yale University. Maria J. Debre is currently working as a post-doctoral researcher at Maastricht University within the ERC project “Who gets to live forever? Towards an Institutional Theory on the Decline and Death of International Organizations.”
