Broadly, Olgas research interests are in the fields of comparative political economy and political methodology. More narrowly, she focuses on the topics of democratic institutions in non-democracies, regional and local development, and public goods provision with an application of causal inference and machine learning tools. Olga works with both historical and contemporary data with Russia as her primary area of studies. She received her PhD in Political Science from the University of Rochester in 2020. As part of her dissertation, she worked with data on local policymaking. Olga plans to continue working on this topic applying more advanced machine learning and deep learning techniques.

Current Research projects at SCRIPTS
Olga is coordinating the work of the Data and Methodology Center (DMC). She provides a methodological support to the SCRIPTS researchers. As part of the DMC team, she is available for the consultation services. Additionally, together with the DMC and the Hertie School Data Science Lab she organizes the data science workshops series for the SCRIPTS scholars.
